Dual Redundant Fibre Optic Links

ViaLite fibre optic links can be configured into dual redundant (1:1) systems to ensure maximum up-time.  This is achieved by configuring the system using two transmitter modules with one RF splitter / combiner module at the transmit location; combined with two receiver modules with a redundancy switch module at the receive location.  This is shown schematically below.

The ViaLite RF splitter / combiner module is a passive, low loss, broadband, 1:2 power divider/combiner operating over a wide bandwidth of <10MHz to >2500MHz.  The ViaLite electromechanical redundancy switch module contains a broadband RF switch that provides very low insertion loss and very high levels of isolation.  It is controlled automatically by other ViaLite RF modules.  Alternatively, it can be controlled directly by the user’s M&C equipment.

The primary and secondary RF receiver modules, and the redundancy switch module can be fitted into any position in the ViaLite 19” rack chassis.  They can even be fitted into different chassis, permitting the maximum possible flexibility in configuration.

Together with ViaLite dual redundant power supplies, these provide the highest possible up-time availability for the ViaLite system.
