2007 - New generation of fibre optic connectivity solutions
PPM is playing a major role in supporting major Satellite Operators implement network development plans to existing teleport sites and earth ground station facilities to accommodate industry consolidation, fulfill global expansion needs and meet service convergence.
RF design engineers at PPM have been working closely with satellite equipment manufactures, network engineers, network installers and systems integrators to realise the next generation, future proof transmission fabric, based on a product platform known as ViaLite. Conventional satellite communication inter-facility links that once transported RF payloads over copper cable now transmits economical IF and L-Band payloads over single mode optical fibre.

PPM's ViaLite connectivity solution forms an important part of the overall interconnect operational platform installed by Satcom Operators. This fibre optic platform is protocol transparent and comes in several format options. Plug-in converter modules can be housed in 19" 1U and 3U chassis hardware, or accommodated in converter sleeves for standalone applications. ViaLite as a transmission solution, can be viewed as a unity gain black box and as such what traffic goes into the Vialite link comes out.
The ViaLite platform also comes with optional dual redundant, hot swappable power supplies, M&C capability and 1:1 fully redundant up and down links realised with the aid of an RF splitter and redundancy switch.
New ViaLite RF Fibre Optic Interface for the Systems Integrator
Most recently, PPM launched its ground breaking OEM RF fibre optic interface module. The OEM module enables Systems Integrators to build an RF fibre interface readily and extremely easily into up/down-links, modems, HPAs, RF distribution and VSAT equipment.
