Green OEM provides Solution for VideoSys Wireless Camera Control System

Broadcasting large live sporting events can be hampered by many complexities such as distance and remote powering. Working in the broadcast industry, VideoSys has developed a wireless 4K camera control solution for use in some of the biggest events in the 2020 sporting calendar, including motor racing, football and major athletics events.

In developing its wireless camera products, VideoSys approached ViaLite for a fiber optic link to be incorporated into their latest Epsilon system, including their Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers (SMPTE) and tactical fiber solutions. The ViaLiteHD green OEM broadcast link was the proposed solution, chosen for its small compact design and excellent performance.

Fiber links are now often preferred to traditional coaxial cables as they are more cost effective for distances over 100 meters. Traditional signal losses compared with coaxial cable are negligible, making fiber systems easier to deploy where distances or remote operations are stretched.

Optical fiber link products are being used more frequently by broadcasters who are seeking to cover live sporting events and breaking news where there is significant distance between the wireless camera and production desk. The green OEM module also has exceptionally low power usage, making it ideal for use with battery operated remote systems like wireless camera and wireless microphones.

Amair Khan, Business Development Manager at ViaLite said: “The fiber links were supplied to VideoSys to support the new product developments that VideoSys are deploying worldwide for the broadcast industry. The Epsilon range will be a system that broadcasters can deploy for all major sporting events during the 2020/21 calendar season and beyond.”
