6 GHz Link

The ViaLiteHD 6 GHz Link covers 10 MHz to 6 GHz, providing tri-band coverage of L-Band (1435-1535 MHz), S-Band (2200-2400 MHz) and C-Band (3.4 – 7.1 GHz).

The link’s electrical performance is optimized for excellent balance between a low noise figure (NF), high P1dB and an industry leading Spurious Free Dynamic Range (SFDR). It is ideal for high-dynamic-range and low noise figure applications.

It is available in various hardware formats, such as stand-alone OEM modules (‘Blue’ and ‘Black’) and rack chassis cards.

  • 10 MHz to 6 GHz Link (7 GHz at 4 dB pt)

6 GHz Link

The 6 GHz Link is suitable for several markets, including:

Mil-Aero, Telemetry and Defense

The link can be used to transport military and aeronautical L- and S-Band signals between military bases (test ranges and firing ranges) and control rooms, over fiber. It ensures there is no signal loss or positive gain, thus allowing for increased link margin. – This can be a concern, especially with S-Band.

Benefits include increased link margin for a much larger range between near and far field operation.

The link is optimized for use in Mil-Aero and Defense applications, such as:

  • Boresight and Air Force Base communications
  • Signals Intelligence (SIGINT) and Electronics Intelligence (ELINT)
  • Telemetry, including data intensive tasks
  • Missile tracking and testing
  • Radar and Electronic Warfare (EW) simulation
  • Tethered systems and UAVs for remote sensing and monitoring
  • Cellular and Network Timing
  • Remote Antenna Monitoring and Signal Processing
  • Critical Comms and Disaster Recovery. – It may, for example, be used by coast guards for disaster recovery.

SIGINT/ELINT

Applications include Signals Intelligence (SIGINT) and Electronics Intelligence (ELINT) for Government use. The links’ spurious-free superior dynamic range allows small signals to be intercepted alongside large signals, as well as the interception of the entire frequency spectrum of the product’s band.

Satcom Teleport Ground Station Antenna Signal Distribution, Broadcast, Weather Radar and Wireless CCTV (5 GHz products), plus Telemetry and Defense applications – with C-Band

The link can be used to transport C-Band signals from dishes to:

  • Ground-station control rooms
  • Broadcasters in the field
  • Broadcast headends
  • Outdoor broadcast trucks
  • Weather radar
  • Military
  • Telemetry and tracking.

By removing the need to down-convert signals to an IF band, the link cuts running costs and reduces overall system costs. It can also boost reliability as there are fewer components in a system.

C-Band bandwidth includes the ITU-R radio regulations frequency for fixed satellite – earth to space (7.075 GHz).

GPS/Timing

The link can also be used for Cellular connections, for example where a Base Transceiver Station (BTS) is remotely located to the timing antenna, such as in a metropolitan area, the RF over fiber link can be used to connect it to the antenna. Other common areas where it could be utilized are: the subway/ underground, government and defense buildings or in DAS applications – distributed antenna systems.

It can also be used for Network Timing; providing accurate time signals – produced by GPS – to a time server, even when it isn’t near a building roof.

Typical applications include:

  • Financial institutions
  • Data centers
  • High-rise buildings
  • Secure buildings / sensitive compartmented information facilities (SCIF)
  • When there are multiple time servers on different locations/floors where RF over fiber can be split to multiple floors.
