Spectacular: ViaLite RFoF Links in Beachside Extravaganza
The award-winning Wings of Time is the world’s only permanent night-time show set in the open sea. It is located on Sentosa Island and operated by One Faber Group. The $10m spectacular blends a contemporary storyline with an extremely well-choreographed display of sound, light and water using cutting-edge technology, including a giant water screen, 3D projection mapping, lasers, pyrotechnics and giant water jets.
Maintaining the reliability of sound from the performers is a vital element of the experience, and is ensured by feeding the outputs of the wireless microphones back to the control room via RF over fiber (RFoF) links from ViaLite.
The theater’s beach location means that the sets are regularly bombarded by wind, waves, salt spray and mist, which demands the utmost ruggedness of all the equipment.
“We chose ViaLite Broadcast OEM units because of their performance and reliability, along with ViaLite’s experience in integrating their modules in other projects in the region,” said Louis Ling, account manager for the Singapore-based system integrator.
ViaLite had previously supplied RFoF links for the Singapore Sports Hub, which were used in the rugby championships.
