ViaLiteHD Selected for Intelsat’s EPIC Satellites

ViaLite Communications has announced the supply of a ViaLiteHD system for Intelsat’s high performance satellite platform known as Epic NG. The RF over fiber equipment will be installed at Intelsat’s Hagerstown ground station in Maryland, USA.

Dynamic range was key

High throughput fixed satellite service

Epic NG is a fixed satellite service high throughput satellite (HTS). It features flexible beam technology. The all-digital payload allows more flexible use of spectrum which dramatically increases throughput. Each EpicNG satellite carries up to five times more capacity than the current fleet. Intelsat plans to deploy Epic NG payloads in all frequency bands dependent on the region and application. The first of six satellite is scheduled for launch in early 2016.
