UHF/VHF 10 MHz-1 GHz

ViaLiteHD UHF/VHF fiber optic links are ideal for use in metro, mining and tunnel applications.  The links can be used for moving WiMax, Tetra and UHF/VHF signals into areas that standard signals cannot reach.

  • Ultra-wide dynamic range allows flexibility to seamlessly transmit varying signal levels easily
  • 10-1000 MHz bandwidth
  • Signals can be transmitted from 1 m to 50 km
  • With Optical Splitters the signals can be point to multipoint
  • Plug and play for rapid deployment
  • Range of outdoor enclosures available
  • 5-year warranty as standard

UHF/VHF 10 MHz-1 GHz

Dynamic range

The ultra-wide dynamic range allows systems to be easily put together without adjusting the signal levels of other equipment.

Low loss

The benefit of RF over fiber is the low loss in the system, which allows signals to be moved into buildings from antennas on the roof.

Lower cost than low-loss coax

To reach even reasonable distances within buildings or below ground, ultra low-loss coaxial cable would be required which is very expensive and in many cases costs more than the RF over fiber links.

The UHF/VHF link’s high reliability, comprehensive alarm/status monitoring and wide dynamic range, result in a highly flexible product suitable for a wide range of applications.  Typical applications include the metro, high rise buildings, mining, oil and gas, and tunnels.

Metro, Mining and Tunnels

ViaLiteHD UHF fiber optic links can be used in radio networks to provide full duplex signal transmissions between radio towers and remote receivers which can be located underground, many kilometers away.  UHF Fiber Extender enables a Leaky Feeder or Repeater to be installed deeper into mines, tunnels or metro environments.

Cellular and PMR (for example TETRA), and security and public safety communications infrastructure deployments are used to support the emergency services such as Fire, Police and Ambulance.  RF over fiber links are used to transport these signals to and from locations that do not have coverage.

The links are also used in mining, gas refineries and oil rigs to provide emergency communication in internal areas, which helps to save lives.

The UHF/VHF RF over fiber link is available in several formats:

– Single rack chassis card / Dual rack chassis card (Rx/Rx, Tx/Tx or Tx/Rx)

A fully populated 19” 3U ViaLiteHD rack chassis supports up to 26 links and accepts 13 RF cards, plus a Monitoring & Control Module and dual power supply modules.  A 1U chassis accepts three RF cards or two RF cards with a Monitoring & Control Module.

– Blue OEM Link

The ViaLite standalone Blue OEM Link offers a compact, single link solution.

– Yellow OEM Link

The Yellow OEM Link has been designed for system integrators and equipment manufacturers to build the link into their own designs.

– Blue2 Link

The Blue2 Link is a dual-solution OEM which can be setup as 2x transmitters, 2x receivers or a transceiver, as required.

– Black OEM Module

The Black OEM module covers a wide frequency range from 10 MHz to 6 GHz, has been designed with harsh environmental conditions in mind and is IP55 rated for outdoor use.

A range of support modules and accessories is also available, including indoor rack chassis units and weatherproof outdoor enclosures.

See our hardware formats guide for more information.
